10 Christmas treats from scratch to make this holiday season, whether that is for yourself or to give to others!
Now, when I take a step back and look at my calendar for the month of December this year, it seems as though the days leading up to Christmas revolve around homemade treats.
Of course, you have the typical Christmas Eve that is full of all the wonderful treats. However, this month, I am also doing a cookie making day with my cousin and sister-in-law, I have a baking day coming up with a few friends, and I have some homemade treats that I’d like to make for family members. Honestly the list goes on! I’m sure I am not the only one with days in December like this.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are extra full of Christmas treats from scratch. There are a few traditions that take place within my family that are all about the treats.
One of my favorite traditions when it comes to Christmas treats is that my mom would make cinnamon rolls every Christmas morning. It was such a cozy thing to eat as you are snuggled up on the couch watching others enjoy the gifts they are opening and giving.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Starting with our very own chocolate covered pretzels here at Brick House on Green. Growing up, I had a friend in school that would gift me homemade chocolate covered pretzels each Christmas. They are such a yummy treat and make a great homemade gift! These ones are made with dark chocolate and crushed candy canes.
Hot Cocoa Cookies
My mouth is watering just looking at these homemade hot cocoa cookies. Sally’s baking recipes is one of my favorite places to get recipes from. She always has great recipes. I am debating whether or not to make these for my cookie baking day coming up. The recipes for these is so simple and easy to follow!

My grandparents often have truffles ready to pass around the table at the holidays after a delicious meal. Although, what about homemade French chocolate truffles? Something I love about this recipe is that they can be frozen for up to 3 months! There is nothing quite like receiving a homemade gift. There is also something so fun about making a homemade gift for someone. If you are giving any of these Christmas treats from scratch as gifts this year, here are a few things to keep in mind…
- Make sure the person you are giving them to doesn’t have any food allergies or preferences.

- Create a recipe card for the receiver so they know what is in treat or the best way to enjoy it.
- The freezer is your friend! Don’t stress yourself out extra this holiday season by feeling like you need to make everything fresh the day before. Making ahead, placing in the freezer, and thawing the morning of will taste just as fresh!
- Making the gift extra festive and personalized by adding a bow or a “to and from” tag is never a bad idea.
- Lastly, enjoy the from scratch, homemade process. It is special to be able to make something for someone.
