A DIY Mother’s Day gift in the form of a beautiful beeswax candle will make the mama in your life feel so special!

My mom is a very simple woman. So, I know that her most desired gift from me for Mother’s Day would be a handmade card or gift! She loves the personal touch in a handwritten letter.

While I will of course be giving her the card she hopes for, I thought a simple DIY Mother’s Day gift could be fun, too!

Candles are always a go to gift for all ladies. I’ve learned however, that candles are actually not good for you! That’s a bummer because I, too, am a candle lover.

As a result, I decided to go the more natural route with it. Beeswax candles produce less toxins as they burn. In fact, some studies suggest that they can actually help improve air quality!

Besides the added health benefits, this DIY Mother’s Day gift is also so easy to make! Seriously, you only need a few supplies and about 10 minutes to create these lovely candle sticks.

The best part about all of this is that Brick House On Green has just launched a FREE DIY Mother’s Day Gift Guide Ebook! If you’re excited about this craft, you can sign up below to download our ebook for FREE!

    Tips For Making Beeswax Candles

Make sure to roll the beeswax tightly. The last thing you want is for the candles to come undone. So, you’ll need to be gentle as you roll, but still press firmly enough to keep the candle stick in tact.

Go slowly. If you move too fast while making these candles, you’ll probably make the candle stick uneven. Working at a slow pace will ensure that the ends are flat!

Cut a small piece of beeswax to do a trial. Before you begin, cut a beeswax square in half to practice rolling it up. You’ll want to avoid messing up the real thing!

Leave extra length on the candle wick string. It’s better to leave more than enough wick sticking out the top than not enough. When you’re finished, you can always go back and trim the wick even more if you need to.

    Supplies You’ll Need

    Beeswax squares

    Candle wick string

    Scissors

Candle stick holders (optional for gifting)

    DIY Mother’s Day Gift Tutorial

    Step 1:

Lay the beeswax square out flat. Take the candle wick string and extend it the full height of the beeswax square. Do this about a half inch from the edge.

    Step 2:

Trim the candle wick string, leaving about an inch or more sticking out at the top.

Then, gently but tightly fold the end over the candle wick string.

    Step 3:

Next, continue to fold the beeswax over the candle wick string. Try to roll it tightly while keeping it as even and straight as possible. Keep rolling until you’ve reached the end of the beeswax square.

Finally, once you’ve reached the end of the beeswax square, you’re done! Repeat the process over again until you have the amount of beeswax candle sticks you desire.

I love candles but have been staying away from them due to health concerns. This is a simple project that the kids and I can do together and have on hand. Plus, my kids would love to gift them to their grandparents!
