If you read our last post of 5 Fun Ways to Bring Fall into Your Home, then you know I am a lover of decorating for the seasons. You also know that Fall is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for. While the season may seem short with winter right around the corner, it is so worth it to decorate. I love all the different varieties of pumpkins and the fall red and orange tones in the home.
Now, I know I just talked all about how much I love Fall and decorating for it. But I know I can’t be the only one that can’t keep up with all the new upcoming decorating styles. Not only that, but it gets old how expensive decor is. Do you feel that way too?
Growing up, I have always been a DIY kind of girl. If I saw something in a store, I would always think to myself, I can make that. Having that trait is a blessing and a curse. Although, when it comes to the seasonings changing and needing new decor, this trait is a wonderful thing. And you must have that trait as well if you are here reading this post.
So, let’s save some money, grab our toolbelts, and make a beautiful DIY pumpkin wreath!
Why You Will Love This DIY Fall Wreath
- Simple – Now, I know we are DIY people. Although, it is just so much better when a DIY is simple. That is what this one is. No crazy skills or tools are needed.
- Cheap – Music to the ears! All of the supplies that are needed to make this DIY pumpkin wreath can be found at the dollar tree.
- Unique – The beauty of making something yourself is that you can add your own spin or twist onto something. Since you aren’t buying this decor at a chain store, you will have a one-of-a-kind wreath. How special!
Cost Breakdown
Now, when I say creating this DIY Fall wreath was cheap, I am not joking. I figured it was only right to give you a cost breakdown of everything.
Everything that was bought at our local dollar tree was $1.25. So, with all of the flowers, pumpkins, and brass rings we bought, we spent a total of $16.25.
Keep in mind that we already had the hot glue gun, wire, and clippers/scissors.

Supplies Needed to Make This DIY Pumpkin Wreath
- Brass wreath ring – I found mine at the dollar tree in a package of 3 different sized ones. I am using the biggest one!
- Fake pumpkins – The dollar tree seemed a bit picked over when it came to small fake pumpkins. However, I loved the white ones.
- Fake flowers/leaves – The color scheme I had in mind was basic but also moodier fall colors, so I kept that in mind when picking the flowers and leaves.
- Floral wire
- Wire cutters/scissors
- Hot glue gun
Optional: Something I struggled with when going to hang the wreath, was that it was heavier on one side so it kept tilting; it wouldn’t hang straight. So, I did end up creating a loop in the back with twine to help it hang straight!
How to Make A DIY Pumpkin Wreath Step-by-Step

First, take a stem of fake flowers/leaves and attach it to the brass ring by wrapping the floral wire around the high middle of the stem. Instead of cutting the wire, just drag it down to the next stem you want wrapped.

This picture may help give you a better idea of what it looks like to not cut the wire and continue to drag it down to each stem.

Continue to repeat step 1 for each stem. Layering the stems on top of each other so no wire is shown. Using desired pattern, colors, and florals! This the fun part where you can be creative and make it uniquely yours.

When wiring the florals is done, it is time to add on the mini pumpkins. I found that it was best to hot glue the pumpkins to the brass ring. Do this by adding a large dot to the pumpkin, placing it on the ring, applying pressure, then putting a dot of hot glue on the brass ring where the bottom of the pumpkin was placed to help secure it.

Hang on your door and admire it!
