There’s nothing more fall-like than a pumpkin spice latte! Save your money this season and learn how to make this delicious drink at home.

Recently, my husband and I made a BIG move to Texas. We’re loving it, although I’m sad to miss the beautiful fall season in PA. With that being said, I’m still doing all I can to bring a fall-ish feel to this small military duplex we call home. Thankfully, the Texas heat has backed off a bit and we are experiencing some cool mornings.
Almost every morning you’ll find me drinking a black coffee. I just crave the strong, dark flavors that a black coffee brings. Every once in a while, though, I like to get a little spicy. It’s a rare occasion for me to have a pumpkin spice latte, but I think that’s what makes them so fun.
My biggest “beef,” if you will, about pumpkin spice latte’s is that they are SO expensive. I mean, who wants to spend 5 dollars or more on a drink?! My frugal self certainly doesn’t. That’s why I’ve decided to make my own right at home.

To make this yourself you only need a few ingredients that I’m sure many of you already have on hand. Let me show you how!
Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients

Freshly brewed coffee-I prefer to make classic drip coffee or, for a stronger brew, use a french press.
Pumpkin puree-You’re going to want pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. I used this pumpkin puree from H-E-B.
Vanilla Extract
Whole milk
Pumpkin pie spice extract
Maple syrup
Pumpkin pie spice (optional for a garnish)
Cinnamon sticks (optional for a garnish)
Heavy whipping cream (I used this to make my own homemade whipped cream)
How to make a PSL step-by-step

Well, you can’t make a PSL without some coffee. So, brew yourself a strong cup! I’m using a single serving french press to make mine.
While the coffee is steeping, mix up the “pumpkin syrup.” Add whole milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin spice extract and vanilla extract to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Pour the hot coffee into your mug of choice and then pour the pumpkin mixture in as well.
Top your PSL with homemade whipped cream, a dash of pumpkin pie spice and a cinnamon stick. Cozy up on the couch with your loved one, your favorite book, a knit blanket and drink up!
Enjoy this creamy pumpkin spice latte with the BEST sourdough pumpkin muffins or paired with your morning pumpkin pie baked oatmeal. Personally, I LOVE a warm, creamy pick-me-up drink that I can sip on through the lull of the afternoon.
If you loved this recipe, too, I’d love for you to give it 5 stars and leave a comment below! Let me know how you drank yours.
Pumpkin Spice Latte

The perfect pumpkin spice latte to indulge in this fall...piping hot, creamy and oh so delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 TBS pumpkin puree
- 4 cups strong fresh brewed coffee
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1-2 tsp pumpkin pie spice extract
- 1-3 TBS pure maple syrup according to your liking
- 1 1/2 cups Heavy whipping cream (if you want to make your own whipped cream)
- Pumpkin pie spice (optional garnish)
- Cinnamon sticks (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Begin by brewing the coffee. Brew 2-4 cups.
- While the coffee is brewing, add whole milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla, pumpkin spice extract and maple syrup to a blender. Blend ingredients together until they are smooth, creamy and somewhat frothy.
- At this point, if you want whipped cream for your PSL, add the heavy whipping cream with a dash of vanilla to a stand mixer with the whisk attachment and whisk until stiff peaks begin to form.
- Pour the freshly brewed coffee into mug of choice and add roughly 1/2 cup of the pumpkin syrup. Add more or less depending on how strong of a flavor you want your PSL to have.
- Top your PSL with homemade whipped cream, a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice and a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
Notes
- I like to make my coffee in a french press for a richer, stronger brew. You can also make a classic drip coffee.
- This recipe is light on the "spice" affect so, if you'd like more spice, add 2 or more tsp of the pumpkin spice extract.
- To make your own whipped cream you can also use a hand mixer if you don't have a stand mixer nearby.
- Keep the pumpkin spice syrup in the fridge for up to a week.
