Father’s Day is quickly approaching! Here are main dishes, sides, and desserts to help you feel a little more prepared for the special day.
To be completely honest, I feel like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day can be slightly overrated (along with Valentine’s Day too). Now before you click off, hear me out. I do love celebrating my parents and the loved ones in my life. However, I just think that it shouldn’t be one day where we make their favorite meals, get them a little gift, and go out of our way to do kind things. I think we should be doing things that make them feel loved more often than just one or two days out of the year.
With that being said, it’s fun to make the day special for loved ones. One of the ways to make that day special is by making a fun and yummy meal. Something I love about cooking and baking is that it brings people together. Sitting down at a table and enjoying a meal with family and friends is a favorite of mine. It is a great time to catch up and have meaningful conversation.
They say the way to a man’s heart is through their stomach and I whole heartedly agree with that. So, here are some meal ideas (main dishes, sides, and desserts) to implement this Father’s Day.
Main Dishes
I feel like a classic meal that all men love is a juicy steak. This post by Iowa Girl Eats shows you how to make a perfectly grilled steak.
Chicken is something that goes along with lots of different sides which is why it is so great. Although, instead of your typical grilled or oven baked chicken, it is fun to spice it up. This barbecue oven baked chicken is the way to go.
This warm weather has been absolutely beautiful! Which is perfect for barbecues and being outside. You cannot go wrong with grilled sausages and hotdogs this Father’s Day. Simple yet very much father approved!
I think it is a fact that all dads love a great rack of ribs. These oven baked ribs are as good as it gets!
Side Dishes
Scalloped potatoes are a great side dish especially for the steak. These scalloped potatoes are cheesy and actually pretty simple. A mandolin slicer would make the job even quicker and trust me, you will use it for more than just this recipe!
Roasted vegetables add freshness add color to a meal. These garlic herb roasted vegetables are flavorful and a great side for really any main dish.
This corn salad is a great cold vegetable side dish. This one would go great if you are doing the barbecue route. This served with tortilla chips would be amazing!
I feel like a good pasta salad belongs at every summer gathering! This lemon orzo salad is light and refreshing.
If you’re in need of a good dinner roll for your meal, here is an easy recipe that is a guaranteed winner!
Desserts
Don’t be intimidated by seeing creme brulee. I have done this recipe a couple times now and it is perfection! Pair this with fresh fruit and everyone will be amazed.
My dad is a big lover of chocolate cake, so I had to include this. I have made this chocolate cake too many times and it has never failed me.
A galette is a simple and light dessert and pairs well with ice cream. This berry galette is a favorite of mine. With all the fresh fruit available in the summer, this is a great choice.
I have made this cheesecake for many people, and some don’t typically love cheesecake, but they loved this one! It is not too rich, lighter and airier.
If you are adding any of these dishes to your upcoming Father’s Day get together, we would love to hear about it! Leave a comment down below!
