The other day, I was looking at my dining room table and just felt like it needed a refresh. We have officially transitioned into Fall so it is time to get serious about it.

Now, like I said above, I was looking at my dining room table and knew it needed a Fall upgrade. The next few months are ones where it is common to be hosting. So, I like to be ready for times where I need to open up my home last minute.
While I was brainstorming of what exactly I could do to elevate my table and get it Fall ready, I thought of our wedding. We said “I do” in the beginning of the month of July. So, think of the hottest summer day possible. When the outdoor ceremony had come to an end, everyone transitioned over to a barn that was decorated with twinkly lights and lots of flowers. What comes to mind though, is the decorations on the long wooden tables. They had eucalyptus going down the center and varied sizes of vases with beautiful in season flowers intertwined with the eucalyptus.
Those tables from our wedding day inspired the way I would create a tablescape for the current season. Taking what I know from that day, but adding a fall twist on it.
The Importance of Creating a Fall Tablescape
A Fall tablescape isn’t just about looks. Check out these reasons of why it is important to create a Fall tablescape.
Welcoming – I know when I step into someone’s home that is having me over for a special dinner, having a beautiful table and seeing a place already set for me means so much. It truly shows intentionality and thoughtfulness to your guests.
Conversation Starter – A tablescape truly does break the ice and opens up conversation. When having new people in your home, it can be hard to know what to talk about. Having a beautiful tablescape can invite your guests to ask questions on how it was made and where everything came from.
Theme – A tablescape doesn’t need to be just for special occasions. However, they are great for holidays or special events. The way a certain tablescape is created will help set the theme and tone for the reason you are hosting.
The Layers to a Beautiful Tablescape
Placemats for All Occasions
Cloth Napkins
Table Runners
Florals
While there are lots of links listed, there is no need to feel like you need to buy a bunch of new things. Using things you already have mixed throughout will help make it your own!
How to Create a Fall Tablescape Step-by-Step
To start, creating a beautiful centerpiece that follows the shape of your table is important. Starting with a linen table runner that has natural wrinkles in it to create a relaxed “earthy” look.
Next, adding the outdoors into your centerpiece helps set a theme and bring texture and shape to a table. Start with layering eucalyptus on the table runner. Lay a good bit of it while still having the runner showing.
Then, adding height and more texture to the center piece by using varied sized vases filled with fall flowers. For these steps, using fake things will have the same effect! They may even be a bonus because you can use them year-round without needing to buy new every time.
To continue with the centerpiece, making it look even more like fall by adding different kinds of pumpkins throughout.
Next, it is time to set the table. Continuing with the layers and texture’s theme, start by adding placemats if desired. Followed by adding plates. If using multiple plates, try adding the napkin in between them to break up the color and add more depth. Lastly, finish off with silverware and add your glasses to the right-hand side of the plate.
That’s it! Your beautiful Fall tablescape is complete.
