I love how freeing the start of a new year can feel. There’s an opportunity to hit the reset button. It’s out with the old, in with the new. Lists of goals and plans are made, new homemaking habits are implemented, closets are decluttered, and the list could go on.
For some, however, this time can be overwhelming. Maybe that’s you. You wonder, where do I even start? As a homemaker especially, it’s hard to know what to focus on because the jobs are literally endless.
Honestly, I feel that, too. That’s why creating a home cleaning routine and rhythm in my household is so helpful. Good news: it can be for you as well.
I’ll teach you how to look at this past year and evaluate what worked and what didn’t flow so well. You’ll get my favorite cleaning tips, hacks, and home cleaning schedule. Plus, I’ll share FREE printable schedules and checklists for all of this so you can easily reference it.
Home cleaning doesn’t have to be hard. Let’s make it happen!
Creating A Home Cleaning Schedule
First, take some time to reflect on this year’s routines. Make a list of what worked for you and what did not. Knowing where to change is the best place to start. Here’s some questions to get you thinking:
- Did I feel ahead or behind with my daily, weekly, and monthly household cleaning?
- Do I have all of the resources I need to clean my home?
- Is there any place in my house that got neglected this year?
- What home cleaning is not a priority in this season of life? What needs to be more of a priority?
- Can I outsource any of this work if it’s a super busy season?
- Did my routine flow well with the daily schedule of my family and lifestyle?
- Was there an excessive amount of “catch up days?”
After you’ve taken the time to think through these questions, write down some goals that you have for the new year when it comes to home cleaning. Acknowledge what needs to change and what you’d like to carry on from this year. Use my FREE printable and downloadable refresh chart to complete this task. You can grab it here.

2025 Daily Home Cleaning Schedule
Here is a list of specific tasks that can be done each day. It should be added that daily or every other day vacuuming, wiping down counters, doing the dishes, and tidying the house at the end of the day are also tasks that I personally do to keep things from mounding up. Also, a daily load of laundry!

Sunday: Sabbath rest throughout the morning and afternoon. Do a quick tidy in the evening. “Close the kitchen” for the day by wiping down all the counters, running the dishwasher and putting away all other dishes. Sweep the floors if necessary and mop with the swiffer.
Monday: Today is for dusting. Walk throughout your home and dust the furniture. There’s no need to dust base boards for a weekly cleaning. Deep cleaning will only be once a month.
Tuesday: Bathrooms are cleaned on Tuesday’s. Wipe down the toilets and clean the toilet bowl. Also, clean all the mirrors, tubs, sinks. Take the dry swiffer and then the wet swiffer over the floors. Empty all of the trash cans. Replace all towels with fresh ones and wash the dirty.
Wednesday: Wednesday’s are for cleaning the bedding. Remove all the bedding from the beds and wash it!
Thursday: On Thursday’s I like to do some tidying and organizing. Choose a certain space that you’d like to organize and work at that in your designated “cleaning” time. You could also use this time to declutter.
Friday: Friday is floors day! Vacuum and mop the floors.
Saturday: Saturday’s are usually when we do our grocery shopping, so this is when I take time to clean out the fridge. Throw away anything that has gone bad (hopefully nothing!) and wipe down/wash the shelves.
